Content Producer @ George Brown College with Ray Harripaul

Ray and Blair discuss how his job search journey went full circle over a few years from a coop placement to his current full-time role in content creation for athletics and recreation at George Brown College, what having an “I get to job” is; and, the life learning he got from Mrs. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus…yes, it was a kids TV show from the 90’s.
About Ray Harripaul

The Highlights and Hottest Takes 🔥
How Ray Got the Job
Ray has had multiple iterations of his year 1ne. He pitched this as a co-op role for content and media production for Athletics and Recreation at George Brown College over 10 years ago, and this time applied to it as an internal job posting:
“It was a full circle moment for my passion.”
Mistake Made
Going into something thinking you know everything about that thing. You’re getting into a new situation (aka context). Your past doesn’t necessarily stay true. “I knew what I knew. I know what I know. I need to learn in this job.”
Lesson Learned
Trust the process. Even if you disagree, if you have a conflicting view, surrender to it, and trust the process. “Surrendering isn’t giving up.”
Pro Tip
“Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!”
Like Mrs. Frizzle said at the start of The Magic School, a kid’s TV show from the 90’s. Mistakes are the best way to learn something.
